Johannesburg-based Typo Colour Printing Specialists has joined the digital print revolution with the purchase of a four-colour HP Indigo 5000r press, installed and commissioned by Kemtek Print Solutions.
Established in 1934 as a small jobbing shop, Typo has blossomed into a sophisticated and highly respected commercial printing, finishing and binding company. Headed by Bryan Miltz, grandson of founder, Zelman Miltz, its specialised team delivers a wide range of top-quality printed products coupled with an excellent personal service.
‘Keeping pace with rapidly developing technology and the ever-changing needs of the print industry is part of our growth strategy and, through the acquisition of state-of-the-art prepress, printing and finishing systems we’re delivering better quality and service,’ comments Bryan.
‘During the last three years we’ve invested more than R30-million in new equipment and resources, including an in-house design studio, to deliver on our promises. Our HP Indigo 5000r purchase signals our commitment to further diversification and growth to meet market needs for short runs, quick job turnarounds and personalisation.’
As he attests, launching a premium quality digital division meant finding the best quality equipment and support to match budget and business requirements. ‘The 5000r and Kemtek’s service philosophy fit the bill perfectly!’ he declares. ‘We already have an excellent working relationship with Kemtek who completed the entire installation and operator training.’
Typo’s 5000r model is a pre-owned machine, remanufactured in Israel according to a strict HP Indigo Reconditioning Programme.
Capable of printing up to two million colour pages or five million monochrome pages/month, it has a full HP Indigo warranty and is a cost-effective option for medium-volume printers such as Typo.
Seamlessly switching between jobs and media types, it’s ideal for on-demand digital printing for marketing collateral, personalised direct mail, and photo services, and much more.
‘The 5000r looks and runs like new and customers are delighted with the results we’ve achieved thus far,’ states Bryan. ‘From the new year we’ll begin a dedicated marketing campaign to promote our full digital offering and the fact that we can now offer a complete one-stop print solution. Our litho business is still very buoyant but I predict that digital will play an ever more important role in our future,’ sums up Bryan.
