ABC streamlines its prepress process
Thursday, 27th November 2014

When Johan Pansegrouw, MD of Cape Town-based ABC Printers, learned about the many production benefits associated with Fujifilm’s impressive FLH-Z ‘ZAC’ chemistry processor and Brillia processless and lo-chem thermal plates, he was genuinely astounded.

‘To be honest, after my meeting with Kemtek sales manager, Wayne Barker, and branch director, Pierre Driver, I thought the projected platemaking savings were unbelievable,’ declares Johan. ‘However, assessing my options on new prepress equipment, and taking into account the impeccable service and advice I’ve received from Kemtek over the years, I decided to award my business to Fujifilm.’

In early October, a Fujifilm FLH-Z processor, utilising Fujifilm Brillia HD PLE thermal plates and DTW (ZAC chemistry), was installed, plus an XR 1200 waste recycling unit.

‘We’ve been running the Fujifilm ZAC system for two months and the savings so far have been phenomenal,’ reports Johan. ‘To date, we’ve reduced our chemistry use by 90 %, saving us huge disposal costs and, in turn, reducing our environmental impact. Bath developer life has also been extended to 15 000 m².’

Johan used to service his previous conventional platemaking system at least 12 times/annum, whereas now, with the ZAC system, this will reduce to three times/annum.

‘Besides our chemistry and service savings, the Fujifilm ZAC processor only requires 200 ml of municipal water/plate, compared to 20 litres/plate with our previous set-up,’ he advises. ‘What’s more, the dot reproduction is extremely reliable, thanks to the system constantly measuring conductivity during bath processing.’

ABC Printers’ is achieving outstanding results with a Fujifilm FLH-Z ‘ZAC’ chemistry processor, utilising Brillia HD PLE thermal plates.
